Vance Smith is a producer and director living in Los Angeles, where he has held a variety of positions in production, notably a full season on American Idol. He was the Producing Artistic Director of Stage Left Theatre in Chicago from 2009-2016. Directing credits include The Coward, Farragut North, Kingsville (Stage Left), Pygmalion (BoHo Theatre and Stage Left), Cheaper by the Dozen (Fox Valley Repertory), Another Day in the Empire, The End, and Camp Freedom! (Black Sheep Productions). He has also directed workshops, one-acts and readings for Theatre Seven, Chicago Dramatists and the side project. As an actor Vance worked with Steppenwolf, Mary Arrchie, Stage Left, Lifeline, Timeline, Hypocrites, Remy Bumppo, Northlight, Victory Gardens, Factory, and many others. He received a Jeff Nomination for best supporting actor for his performance as Lenny in The Homecoming at Mary Arrchie Theatre. Television credits include Chicago Fire (NBC) and a short-lived dating show on the Food Network (which he won). Vance attended the School at Steppenwolf in 2004 and graduated from Tulane University.
